History and Introduction

Our faculty was established as Niğde University Aksaray Faculty of Arts and Sciences with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 23 October 1999 and numbered 99/13483 published in the Official Gazette dated 05 November 1999 and numbered 23867. With the establishment of Aksaray University in accordance with the additional article 64 of the law numbered 5467 published on 17 March 2006, it has become one of the faculties within Aksaray University.

Our faculty, which has succeeded in becoming one of the important educational institutions of our country with its academic and scientific studies since its establishment, continues its education and training activities with a total of 11 departments including Archaeology, Western Languages and Literatures, Biology, Philosophy, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Sociology, History and Turkish Language and Literature.

Together with our additional building with a closed area of 4500 m², which was put into service in 2019, our two modern buildings, which are located on a total closed area of 9000 m², capture attention with their well-equipped infrastructure that combines information and technology. Our faculty has 13 classrooms, 3 advanced applied student research laboratories, 1 computer laboratory, 1 archaeology laboratory, 1 conference and 5 seminar halls. This infrastructure supports the academic success of our students by providing a modern learning and research environment.

With its departments where science and social sciences are offered together, our Faculty aims to supply its students with a wider perspective by combining cultural heritage and diversity while offering academic richness with scientific research, innovative education approach and social responsibility projects.

The Faculty of Arts and Sciences does not only adopt a course-oriented educational approach, but also provides students with opportunities to explore new areas of knowledge through inquisition, creative thinking and collaboration. In addition to theoretical knowledge, our faculty aims to prepare students for their careers as well-equipped individuals by giving them the chance to apply what they have learnt.

With an insight into thinking of the universal while observing the local and with its deep-rooted history and strong infrastructure, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences adopts a visionary educational approach that blends science, culture and art and supports academic excellence. Acting with the mission of raising confident individuals with a scientific perspective, guided by reason and science, in accordance with the fundamental values and strategic goals of our country and in national/international environments, our faculty raises qualified individuals for the future of our country by making use of science and technology in the light of universal values.
